Seeing how we're at the half-way point in 2012, I thought it is about time we take a look at the top 5 features added to Klipfolio Dashboard so far this year.
Top 5 new features
1. Geopolitical Map KPIs
The release of version 1.6 was one of our biggest releases to date, and added a host of cool new features. One of my favourite features is the new Map Klip type. It is a simple Klip that lets you visualize data using geopolitical maps and comes with maps of the world, Europe, USA, and Germany (with more coming in the future). When you are viewing a map on your dashboard, you can hover over any region to see that region's associated values. Pretty cool stuff - and our customers are already using this Klip to display values from web analytics and sales data sources.
2. Annotations
This feature proves that the simplest features can be the most effective. You can attach an annotation to any Klip on your dashboard and it will be shared with anyone else who has access to that Klip. Annotations are inherently a social feature designed to keep everyone in your company on the same page when it comes to your KPIs. Share insights, point colleagues to external/internal resources with hyperlinks, or coordinate actions - annotations have the power to do it all! Want to see how easy this feature really is? 3. Use your databases a data source
That's right - you can access almost any data you want using Klipfolio Dashboard for web and mobile, and you can now use databases as a data source. Connect to your SQL databases using our simplified data connector, and execute queries to get the data you want in your dashboard. This feature rounds out our suite of data connectors, but you can bet there are more on the way!
4. White-label and OEM partner support
One of the pillars of version 1.6 is the addition of the new Clients section for white-label and OEM partners. Partners now have full control over the customization of their dashboards and improved administrator rights. You can replace visual elements such as the dashboard logo, cloak the URL (eg: www.yourdashboard.yourcompany.com), and add your own custom CSS. Administrator features let partners manage client dashboards, whether they want to set up a new dashboard for a client or add users to the application. Learn more about our white-label and OEM partner program.
5. Visual indicators
Okay - I'm willing to admit I am biased towards the Indicators feature. It might have something to do with the fact that indicators add clarity to any KPI on your dashboard and make it easy to have "at-a-glance" awareness of what's going on with key metrics. Or, it might have something to do with the fact Indicators are just so easy to use. Indicators are set up using an If statement that lets you create conditions to test values, and then return a visual cue based on the result of that test. Check out this article and watch the video at the top of the page to see just how easy indicators are to set up.
Honourable Mention -- Klip Developer's Guide
The Klip Developer's Guide is now live on our support site. This guide consists of 8 tutorials for building Klips in KD web/mobile, and each tutorial teaches some really cool concepts that can be applied to any Klip you build. As you know, we absolutely love using videos to help our customers, so you might be wondering where are the videos for the Developer's Guide? Well, they are in production as we speak and should all be released by the end of June/early July. Don't worry - you'll be the first to know when they are live!
