This latest release has lots of great improvements to increase the power of your dashboard (take a look at the Changelog). Some updates are ‘under the hood’ and some are cool new features that you can try out for yourself. You can influence product development by making your voice heard.
Upload more data from Google Drive
You can now use any file on your Google Drive account in Klipfolio, just like Box or Dropbox. For example, if you are working on an Excel spreadsheet in your Drive account and use that as a data source in Klipfolio, any time that file is edited, those changes will be reflected in Klipfolio. This is huge.

You can continue to use Google Drive as a data source in the exact same way as before by clicking on our brand new Google Drive logo.

Use Bitly as a data source
This release added support for Bitly using OAuth. Bitly is more than just a URL shortener – it keeps track of how many times your link is clicked. As a result, it is an extremely useful data source to add to your dashboard because it can be combined with your Google Analytics and social media data sources. We've provided documentation on this data source, but here's a quick overview of how to integrate with Bitly using their API console.
Overview
Step 1: Copy your URL
Start by selecting the Bitly URL you want to analyze in Klipfolio.
- Navigate to your your Bitly account.
- Click Copy beside the URL you would like to retrieve data from.
Step 2: Select your API method
You can use Bitly's API Console to craft your request. Make sure you authenticate your account so that you can test your request.
- Navigate to Bitly's handy API Console.
- Use the menu to select the API method you want to use.
Step 3: Paste your URL
Paste the URL that you copied in Step 1 into the link field. Fill out some additional values (depending on the query you selected).
Step 4: Make your first Request URL in Bitly
After sending your URL request, you will see your data in the Response section of the query.
Step 5: Copy your URL
Make sure that you copy your freshly generated Request URL. In Klipfolio, you will be able to use that URL to import data for your dashboard. Notice that the URL you created is in the JSON data format (keep that in mind for later).
Step 6: Choose the new Klipfolio Bitly OAuth Token
In Klipfolio Dashboard, you can create an OAuth token that will allow you to set up a Bitly data source for now and any time in the future.
Step 7: Paste your Bitly URL
Paste the URL you copied in the Bitly API console into Klipfolio's Web Accessible Resource section. Your information should look like the above screen shot (don't forget to choose JSON data format from the drop-down list). You can now start building a Klip with your data.
Bubble Charts
Bubble charts are useful because you can see relationships and correlations between multiple data points. They can be used for social and demographic data (as you can see in our example), or for delving into financial, economic and scientific relationships.
Overview
How does a bubble chart work?
A bubble chart is used if you have data with three series. It has three axes: X, Y and Z. The X axis is the horizontal axis and the Y axis is the vertical axis. The Z axis replaces the data points with various bubble sizes.

The new label options allow you to provide custom tooltips for each data point plotted on the chart.

Apply a series label to identify categories within the chart.
Value Sizes
Apply value sizes to demonstrate differences between each bubble. In this example the value sizes represent the data in the Z axis, which is weight.
